Coaches must have a basic knowledge of the availability, usage and standard ranges of common biometric screenings in the areas of blood pressure, body mass index (BMI)*, fasting glucose, Hemoglobin A1c (HgbA1c), and lipid panels such as high density lipoproteins (HDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL), total cholesterol and triglycerides.

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions — increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels — that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
