Take a look at your vision board and define the ‘big picture’. What is the one large-scale goal do you want to achieve this year?
Double Check —> Are these goals you want?
You will go no where fast if you are working towards someone else’s goal.
There are 5 Principles to setting a successful goal.
Is your goal clear? If you told someone your goal, would it make sense what you want to achieve?
Will this goal challenge you? If it’s too easy, it won’t be rewarding enough for you and if it’s too challenging, you’ll be more likely to give up.
Do you envision yourself really committing to this goal? For example, don’t have a goal that includes giving up chocolate for a year if that’s something you can’t really commit to giving up. Also, be sure you’re able to commit. Committing to moving to the country might not be possible if your family doesn’t agree.
Every goal must have some type of feedback loop so you can see progress and document success. This can be measured in time, weight, survey’s, financial gains, etc. anything that provides feedback for you so you know that you are reaching your goal successfully.
Are there tasks or steps you need to take to reach your goal? Can you document that you are competing these tasks to reach your goals?
Once you’ve clarified your goal, it’s time to break your goal or vision into smaller targets to short-term goals.
Use this worksheet to help you break down your goals, create bench marks, set priorities, and set SMART goals. This process helps you to quickly spot distractions that would otherwise lure you from your course.
Properly set goals can be incredibly motivating, and as you get into the habit of setting and achieving goals, you’ll find that your self-confidence builds fast.
